Weekly Update, February 1, 2021

Greetz internet friend and welcome back to my blog! I’m not feeling that great, so let’s just get started.

Politics

I was so furious to read that people were blocking vaccination stations in California. Israel has already vaccinated 50% of their country and they are predicting things will return to normal in March. Obviously, they are not the same as the U$, but they also have issues of religious people ignoring government orders and fighting against vaccination. While Israel starts to roll out vaccines to 16-18 year old citizens, while we are stuck with this garbage. I hate anti-maskers so much, but to go further and block vaccinations? That is just a bridge too far! I just can’t. Anti-maskers were one (terrible) thing, but this is so far over the line! I’m too upset to keep writing, but holy shit! You don’t want to wear a mask? That makes me hate you. You want to STOP OTHERS FROM PROTECTING THEMSELVES AGAINST THE VIRUS? OVER THE LINE! Like it isn’t bad enough that these super-spreaders are refusing to wear masks, but stopping people who want vaccines from getting them? AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

Black Lives Matter

I don’t have much to say on this subject, except to say that Black Lives Matter! I want to continue being vocal about that and using the (albeit) small platforms I’ve built to shout it out every week. I also realize that this is Black History Month. It is unfortunately both that it is the shortest month and the American history (as it is taught in the public “education” system) is so devoid of non-colonialist history that an entire month is required to attempt to educate people. Every month should be Black History Month, because the United States would not existed without Black people!

If you dig history, perhaps take some time this month to educate yourself. Read a book that isn’t written from the conquering perspective, perhaps something like A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn. There are many others options as well, but that’s one of my favorite history books and a fine place to start.

Professional

Working on an engagement. Still feeling massively burned out, but otherwise nothing to share.

Personal

Last week I got some music equipment that allowed me to record with much higher quality. I also posted my first full track on soundcloud, which you can find here. I’ve only got one song posted for now, but there is more coming in the next few weeks and months, so if you follow me there you’ll get updates as soon as I share new music.

I also started using spray paint and stencils to make cool art. There are some videos on my TikTok you can check it if you wanna see what I’ve been up to. You don’t need to create an account if you visit that website, although I highly encourage you to check it out. Many people just lurk, so you don’t have to worry about creating content if you don’t want to. I created a personal account a few weeks before I made the music account to try and figure out the platform. It’s fun! It reminds me of being in a bar and having a bunch of little one minute (or shorter) conversations.

Anyway, that’s all I have to report for what I got up to personally. One last thing, I did record a drum track and share it with a friend, and he mentioned writing a bass line and so that might be happening as well! I tried to make it a hip-hop style beat, and if he lays down a funky bass line I’ll try to write a cool rap. Usually I don’t write my raps, but I might just have to make an exception this time. Be sure to check out the links below if you are interested in learning more about the art and music I’m making!
